Personal Fitness & Rehabilitation’s (PFR) Approach to Medicine

PFR | Medicine

Initially, we felt that Functional Medicine was a great way to describe our practice, as it relies on traditional and highly-specialized lab tests to identify the root cause of disease and dysfunction, which are then treated using natural, homeopathic supplements and treatment regimens. We certainly believe in, and utilize, these tenants, when appropriate, at PFR. However, we also value the contributions of traditional medical and adjunct therapies–allowing us to stay true to our own corporate values–including, prescribing every PFR patient a treatment regimen tailored specifically to them–based on their unique biology and personal goals.

Integrative Medicine is a medical specialty that, in addition to including the best of Functional Medicine, better reflects the broad and comprehensive patient-centered approach we take to provide the best possible care for our patients. The American Board of Integrative Medicine says, “Integrative Medicine, is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals, and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing”…which is exactly what we strive to do at PFR.
