Integrative Medicine

PFR | Medicine embraces many of the philosophies usually attributed to Integrative Medicine—treating the whole person, mind, body and spirit—with the added benefit of employing a time-honored medical approach, focused on impacting underlying disease and functional imbalances. At PFR we value the tenants of Integrative Medicine because we understand that each of our patients is a uniquely distinct individual. We also value the impact that an individual’s genetics, lifestyle demands, and personal environment contribute to their overall health and well-being. Developing a partnership with our patients allows us to deeply explore these factors and create a wellness plan that is idealized just for them. Integrative Medicine is grounded in a patient-centered approach—treating the entire body as an interconnected system, rather than a group of individual organs and systems. Many of the nation’s top healthcare organizations use an Integrative Medicine approach to improve health outcomes, including Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic.

Our Integrative Medicine Team can manage, or co-manage, your chronic metabolic health concerns and optimize your wellness outcomes. Our highly-skilled clinicians treat hypertension, diabetes, and other metabolic illnesses, including hormone imbalances, and obesity. Obesity is one example of a chronic disease with significant long-term health and economic impact. At PFR we place a great deal of emphasis on obesity and weight maintenance due to the risk of additional comorbid conditions that are a direct result of being overweight, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

So, what, exactly, does an integrative and holistic approach to wellness look like? In a nutshell, it looks like you. That’s why at PFR, our entire program is patient-centered and customized to your unique biological, psychological, identity. We use state-of-the art, evidence-based, and scientifically sound diagnostics and methodologies to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Benefits

Simply put, anyone can benefit from better health. Does this sound like you:

  • Have you been referred to an orthopaedic or neurosurgical specialist for possible surgical intervention?
  • Have you been advised to lose a little bit of weight?
  • Do you just want to feel better?
  • Do you want to do the things you used to do?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then Personal Fitness & Rehabilitation (PFR) is for you.

PFR Solution

Personal Fitness and Rehabilitation was conceived to optimize potential surgical patients who, based on current health status, do not yet meet criteria. After years of refining this concept, our Team identified many opportunities in which to accomplish this goal. By implementing a Integrative Medicine model, our clinicians, physical therapists, wellness coaches and Patient Hosts will provide holistic, individualized, and patient-centered care.

We will partner with our patients to customize care based on diagnostic findings using state-of-the-art equipment, including:

  • CardioCoach CO2 Resting Metabolic Rate
  • VO2 testing.
